Bridals

Charity's Bridal Session

My wife Barbara and myself met Charity, her mother Phyllis and her friend, and bridesmaid, Ashley at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens for a bridal session on Memorial Day. It was a very hot and humid day and even at 9:00 AM the heat was oppressive. However, the Botanical Gardens is such a magical and beautiful place to shoot and the incredible beauty and variety of mini locations within the gardens make it ideal. It is one of my favorite places to photograph and I shoot there whenever possible.

If you are a photographer and are considering taking a client there for a shoot there are a couple of things you should know. First, call and make a reservation, they limit the number of photographers shooting simultaneously. Second there is a $150 fee for the privilege of photographing professionally in the park, the good news is that the normal admittance fee is $15 and the $150 fee entitles you to admittance for ten folks. So, take some family or friends, or allow the client to do the same.

Meanwhile, back at the bridal session... Charity was absolutely stunning in her wedding gown, just beautiful. I loved the feather head piece and her hair. Charity has very long hair and it was gorgeous up. We loved her dress, it was very flattering. We shot for about 5 hours, including a very much needed refreshment break halfway into our sessions. It was a fun session and I really enjoyed meeting Phyllis and Ashley and having enough time to relax, setup and take some nice shots. I love bridal sessions and so glad we were able to get this session in before her wedding; this was our third attempt, the previous attempts were rained out.

Hope everyone enjoys these images as much as I enjoyed creating them.

Nikki's Bridal Session

Nikki and Robert Gubernath met Barbara and me at Floyd Wimpy's pond to shoot a bridal session. Nikki was not feeling well, so we had to cut our session short, but not before we had a chance to capture this shot. I look forward to completing our session in a few weeks when Nikki is feeling better. Until then, we will have to be content that we captured the essence of Nikki in her wedding dress being a beautiful bride.

Weddings

Jessica & Casey - A Braselton-Stover House Wedding

Jessica and Casey were married at the beautiful Braselton-Stover House in Braselton, Georgia. I have known Jessica most her life and watched her grow from a young child to the beautiful woman she is today. Casey, the lucky groom, is a talented, generous and kind young man and the two of them are a perfect match. They are so much in love and judging by the attendance at their wedding they are well loved by their friends and family.

I want to thank Dana Hornbeck, Amy Kelly and my wife Barbara for their contributions. Just an incredible wedding and one we thoroughly enjoyed. A special thank you to Mary and Marvin, the owners of the venue for their graciousness and for making us feel so at home. We are posting just a few shots until we finish the post processing of the nearly 7,000 images we captured on their big day. Please check back over the next few weeks as more images and a slideshow will be posted to this blog post and we get their online gallery posted.

Finally, we want to thank Steve and Elizabeth Sizemore for their friendship and their kindness - we love you both.

Engagements

Jeanine & Scott - Down by the River

We met Jeanine and Scott at Jones Bridge Park, a beautiful little spot next to the Chattahoochee River in Norcross, Georgia. Scott and Jeanine were visiting her folks for Mother's Day from Blacksburg, Virginia. We had a great time shooing in the shade next to the river. The cool air felt great as we intermingled with the geese and got our shots.

After shooting for an hour or so we moved to McDaniel Farm in Duluth, Georgia to finish our shoot. We had a great day and it was such a pleasure to meet Jeanine and Scott. Jeanine and I have spoken on the phone many times and she was every bit as nice in person as I had found her to be on the phone.

Here are two images - just a teaser, we have some great shots to pick and choose from. We'll be posting more images soon, so please check back.

Weddings

Laura & Ben - A Match Made in Heaven

Ben and Laura one of our favorite couples of all time. They are an incredibly sweet couple; so much in love, devoted to living their lives in the service of their lord and you will never meet two kinder or gentler souls. Barbara and I have loved this couple since we met and did their engagement session in Suwanee.

Their wedding was incredibly beautiful, Perimeter Church is gorgeous and the chapel was magical. Ben and Laura's family and friends were an impressive collection of sincerely kind and generous folks. Everyone was so pleasant and loving and we were made to feel like a part of the family.

It will be a couple of weeks before we complete the selection and preparation of the 5,500 images that were shot during the wedding. I want to thank my team of photographers and assistants for their exceptional talent and hard work. Dana Hornbeck was my second shooter, Steve Glass and Amy Kelly assisted and shot when able and were just awesome. I cannot wait to present these images to Ben and Laura, these are some initial images... many more to come in the weeks ahead.
