Brooke & Josh - A Match Made in Heaven
From the moment I met Brooke and Josh I knew this was a very special couple. Our first shoot was a 'Save the Date' session on the square in Dahlonega and it was a gas, so much fun, each of them were an absolute hoot. My wife and I laughed, cried from laughing so much, and then laughed some more. The handshakes and hugs at the end of the session cemented an instant friendship - we loved them! They were so creative, so full of life, so smart, so funny and absolutely adorable. The images were fantastic, I take no credit, well maybe a small amount of credit, but they were the real talent; I was utterly inspired and they brought out the best in me because it was just so easy to shoot them.
Then we did an engagement session and BAM! more lightning in a bottle. Another great session, very creative images - look we shot in an actual gold mine, I am not making this stuff up. It seems that Brooke and Josh know everyone in Dahlonega, at least 70% of all visitors to Dahlonega and probably 30% of all future visitors to Dahlonega, I am not kidding, exaggerating, you bet, but kidding, no way.
So as the day of their glorious wedding approached I was so excited. Anyone that knows me, all thirteen of you, and you know who you are, even if you won't admit it publicly, knows that I LOVE to shoot weddings. I get so pumped up, but this wedding I was like the Michelin man, hey watch the wise cracks, I mean it. I was uber excited because I knew that Brooke was going to be special and I waited with baited breath to see what Josh would throw at me. I knew it was going to be good, come 'on, we have a track record here.
Well, I was not disappointed and neither were any of the other lucky members of the bridal party, family members and friends of this wonderful couple. We have a lot of ground to cover here over the next few weeks. I am going to post a single image for the moment. Yeah, I know it's a bit of tease and I hate it too, but the images are being post processed and it takes a little time and I just couldn't wait to let you see this single image. It speaks volumes about what a crazy wonderful wedding I was so fortunate to attend, nay, to be a willing participant. Please don't tell them, but this was so much fun I feel like I should be paying them - no kidding, well maybe just a little bit kidding, ok, look I am keeping the money, but it's the thought that counts. Right? Now I feel like a real heel, but I am still keeping the money and yes it was fantastic, don't hate me because I take photographs.
Look, I thought about this for approximately 93 seconds and I want you to hate Dana Hornbeck, Nawal Bookmiller and Barbara Franks, in that order, but don't hate me. They were there too, seriously hate Barbara last, she is my wife and I really like the way she cooks, so don't screw this up, hate her last; seriously.
All kidding aside, more images to follow very soon, the names above were my other photographers that I wish to thank, they all did a great job and they all know that I am a huge fan of their work, enjoy every assignment we work on together and, speaking for each of us, we were truly honored to be included in Brooke and Josh's wedding. To the members of their families we cannot adequately express how kind and gracious you were to our team and how much we appreciate that you made us feel like family. To all the friends of Josh and Brooke, please, continue taking your medications; I shudder to think of the consequences that would befall our community should you choose to do otherwise; ok, I slipped back into the kidding, but you should know I had my fingers crossed when I typed this last little bit.
Everyone was awesome, it was groovy and please check back soon as I post more images and we get Brooke and Josh's gallery online with all the images.
Brooke and her bridesmaids met early at Belle Avance Salon for hair and makeup. What a beautiful salon; the decor was exquisite and everyone was so nice. The ladies were beautiful, ready to go home and get dressed and be in a wedding.
Brooke's wedding dress was beautiful and her Tom's are so indicative of her free spirit - loved them. Her antique wedding engagement ring was gorgeous. These detail shots are just a small sample of the wonderful details from her big day.
Brooke and her bridesmaids prepared for the wedding in her parents beautiful home. Brooke was so beautiful and we could tell she was excited, anxious and so ready to marry Josh.
Josh and his groomsmen were a hoot. These guys were a collection of unique individuals, each with a tremendous sense of humor, incredible timing and originality. I enjoyed working with this group of men as much as any group I have ever photographed.
Yahoola Baptist church is a small country church nestled in the foothills just down the road from the R Ranch resort. The mountains in the background are the beginning of the Tennessee Valley Divide, along the ridges runs the Appalachian Trail. It was a wonderful place for Brooke and Josh's wedding. Brooke's bouquet contained a wedding ring set that was very special to her and a beautiful cameo.
It was a beautiful ceremony. There was humor, smiles and tears of joy. Everyone in attendance was moved by the love between Josh and Brooke and extremely happy to see these two married at last!
