Got up very early on Sunday morning, November 28th, and headed out around 5:00 AM; destination, Clinton, Mississippi. Clinton is a suburb of Jackson, the capital of Mississippi. We met at Mynelle Gardens, a really beautiful place to shoot. It was great to see Sam and Candi again. They were married on September 19th and this is a very special couple. I think the four of us, insert my wife Barbara into the discussion here, really made a connection back in the summer when Sam and Candi came to Atlanta for their engagement session.
Candi is, no pun intended, the sweetest thing you have ever seen and Sam, well he's as cool as the other side of your pillow. We really like this couple and I predict we'll stay in touch in the years to come. They are really a nice pair of young folks and we like 'em a lot. So here are a few shoots from the Cherish the Dress session we shot on Sunday. It was about 15 hours of driving total in one day, but the session was a blast and I think we really got some good stuff. Hope Candi and Sam agree and like the shots from the session. I have added this session as a new sub-gallery in their online gallery. If anyone needs the passcode please contact Candi and she will tighten you right up. I shot this next image with a really cool lens that doesn't get used a lot in portrait photography, but it should. The lens is a 45mm f/2.8 Perspective Control (PC) Nikkor; in simple terms the lens is a tilt-shift lens. There are a myriad of practical applications for this lens, but I like to use tilt-shift lenses, or PC lenses as Nikon calls them, for creative, romantic and dreamy shots. If you look closely you will see the blurring that is occurring because of the pronounced shift I am applying to the barrel of the lens.
I have known Mary Elizabeth for a number of years. Her grandfather and grandmother and mother have been family friends for many years. In fact Barbara, my wife, were formerly introduced by Mary Elizabeth's grandparents. So we go back a ways and I knew Mary Elizabeth's mother when she was a little girl; so I tickled to death to be there with Dana Hornbeck and my wife to document the joyous event.
Mary Elizabeth and Ben are the cutest couple and it was easy to see they were very much in love and ready to start their new lives together. We wish them the very best and a lifetime of love and happiness. I wanted to thank the family and friends of this friendly and gracious young couple, you were so kind to all of us and we enjoyed meeting you and sharing time with you. I will be posting their gallery this evening. If you follow the CLIENTS link from the navigation bar and enter 20101113 when it asks for a passcode you will be able to look at all the images. Here are some pictures of their joyous union, enjoy.
I had the pleasure of attending the release party for Nate Currin's new CD Goodnight California at the Hard Rock Cafe - Atlanta. It was a fantastic event with great people, great refreshments and great music. A Life Interrupted opened and had a great set, The Well Reds were next and were fabulous and Nate Currin and his band finished the night with an absolutely killer set that had the place jumping.
I want to thank Nate for the invite, I had a blast. Good luck with the new CD, I have listened to the copy I purchased three times now and I really like it. I think you've got a real winner on your hands; best wishes for well deserved success. Check out Nate's website for a closer look and a listen to some of the music HERE. I have posted an online gallery of images, click HERE to go to the login page; the passcode is 20101106. Here are a few shots of Nate and his band. I will be posting more over the next few days so please check back.
The Well Reds were the second act that played the night of Nate Currin's Goodnight California CD Release party. These guys have a great sound and stage presence. It was a real pleasure catching their act. Check out their website HERE.
I copied this excerpt from their website: "Individually the members of the band accrued years of professional playing experience, opening up for an eclectic mix of national acts including Switchfoot, Blues Traveler, Angie Aparo, Moses Mayfield, Bell X1, and Ryan Bingham & The Dead Horses. Since the inception of the band in 2008, collectively they have shared bills with bands like Automatic Love Letter (Epic), A Cursive Memory (Epic), Transmit Now (Silent Majority/Warner), Lights Resolve, and The Friday Night Boys (Fueled by Ramen)."
Spent Saturday morning with Mary Elizabeth and Ben shooting an engagement session on the Dahlonega Square. It was a very chillly morning, coldest of the season so far, but the cold was invigorating and motivating. We spent about an hour an a half getting some great shots of the attractive young couple. I will be shooting their wedding on November 14th and it will be a lovely ceremony at a Baptist church out in the country.
Here are a couple of shots of the young couple.
